Helldeer and Stealthmoose - A Half-True Story

Mon May 4, 2009, 4:00 PM
There's not much happening in the area I "hang around" in, unfortunately. Apart from the occasional surprise..

Firstly, I have now on several occasions encountered a group of moose. Having never seen wild moose before now, it was at first somewhat disturbing, considering the overall size of them. Now however, I follow them whenever I get the chance, but they're surprisingly sneaky for being "the king of the forest". Lesson learned; they're likely to kick my a*s before I can say "autofocus" out loud 14 times.

With that in mind, I suppose I've subconsciously gotten a bit wary - which explains why I got a serious adrenaline rush by being surprised by a tiny deer. I was out as usual, crappy weather, when the sun shined through for a brief moment. This made me stop, and then this bloodthirsty beast (as in, the tiny deer) comes rushing from the forest - showing its (not-so-scary) teeth and hissing!!? I never knew they could hiss - or look that ugly for that matter. I'm pretty sure this particular deer was spawned from the lower depths of hell, invoked by the heat of sunlight and the smell of nearby flesh. Running straight at me, it changed its mind, and ran back again, shortly followed by its fellow demon (another tiny deer). Me being stupid, I was at the time already busy pondering how to dramatically retell what I had seen, perhaps in a dA-journal 1-3 people read, so photography wasn't really on my mind. Despite that however, there's this incredibly bad photograph, proving that at least a small part (~25%) of my story is true: [link]

If it wasn't for the fact that my initial reaction perhaps was that I expected a moose-hoof to be implanted into the front of my head, I would perhaps have gotten a better shot - especially considering the fact I got 2 chances in a row.

But whatever. I'll get them, one day, even if it'll mean I'll have to cover myself with twigs and mud and buy something like this or this!

Meanwhile, there's a whole list of random stuff I want to get my hands on, which I'll keep track of on here for my own convenience...

In order of urgency and practical/economical accessibility:
    - Ultra-cheap microfiber cloth. :bulletgreen:
    - A black bucket. :bulletgreen:
    - 58mm ND8-filter :bulletgreen:
    - 58mm Polarization-filter
    - 58mm UV-filter
    - 55mm UV-filter :bulletgreen:
    - Extensiontubes :bulletgreen:
    - A 1.4x/2.0x teleconverter
    - A square/flat transparent watertank of some sort.
    - Macro flash/LED?
    - Standard flash + bracket? <--- High Priority?
    - A 2.5 million dollar luxury villa in Dubai
    - Harddrives. I'm pushing a poor 250GB one to the limit right now, after my total of ~600gb literally burned up last year.
    ----Needs research----
    - Shutter release cable/remote
    - Criminal career
    - Life
    - Alternative camerabag to spare my shoulders/back from eternal pain. (Lowest priority, of course)

Expected total cost: 1 fortune, 1 soul and 2.5 million dollars.
